Energy and Environmental Technologies

The wider energy and environmental technologies sector, or LCEGS sector, was recognised in both the 2003 and 2006 RES as a key internationally competitive sector meriting support from the NWDA’s wider cluster support programme through Envirolink Northwest.  The RES also recognised the importance of the nuclear sector to the West Cumbrian sub-regional economy. In 2010, NWDA’s LCEGS strategy for supporting the sector was launched which identified a number of priority areas such as solid state lighting, tidal energy and smart grids.
