In order to deliver the Regional Climate Change Action Plan (CCAP), the Northwest Climate Change Partnership was established in 2006 by the Regional Leadership Board.
This built on the previous work to create a Northwest Climate Group, and linked to the Northwest Sustainable Development Group and the NWDA Board. To coordinate delivery the NWDA took the lead on the development of the Northwest Climate Change Unit in 2007, with additional resources provided by the Regional Leaders Board, Government Office, and the Environment Agency. Throughout the life of the CCAP a number of partnerships and working groups were established, including those focusing on: adaptation; business leadership; local authority support and low carbon transport.
Alongside these partnerships, at a sub-regional level the CCAP facilitated the establishment of low carbon and climate change partnerships in all five counties, and where possible at local authority level.
